SECOND HALF TITLE TO BE DETERMINED LAST WEEK OF SEASON……
Four teams are still in the running for the second half title…..teams BRAFMAN (5-2), SCHWARTZ
(5-2), GROH (4-3) and SOLOMON (4-3)……
BRAFMAN plays LEADER…..SCHWARTZ plays GROH and SOLOMON plays HIUDT…….
GAME RESULTS FROM THIS WEEK………
*TEAM SCHWARTZ defeated a pesky TEAM LEADER, 10-7, timely hitting and great defense,
which included a fly out and throw the runner out at the plate double play executed by LCF DAVID
WERTHEIM and catcher DAVID SOLOMON and a PLAY OF THE GAME ground ball snagged by
3B PETE SPOERL and throw dug out of the dirt by 1B JERRY KIRZNER spurred the victory…..the
highlight of the game might have been one of either two plays……ROGER ROSENTHAL showing
his “power” with a “booming” double over a drawn in outfield and ALAN LESSURE going from first
base to third base on a double……
It should be noted that RYAN SMALL returned to action and the team won…..he has missed four
games this season, all wins…….the new father had some key at bats and played well in the
field……COREY NORRIS, MIKE ROTHSTEIN, otherwise known as the BOSTON CONNECTION,
HOWARD SCHWARTZ and ZACH SWADNER also contributed to the team victory…..
It should also be noted……RON ROSE missed his first game in the coaching box as he was rumored
to be scouting games in the Mexican League for possible players to be added to the playoff
roster……….
**TEAM BRAFMAN got back to their winning ways after two heart breaking defeats as the defeated
TEAM WEISSER, 12-11,……the entire team contributed, however clutch RBI’s by DAVID “BP”
SNYDER, GREG HARRIS, SCOTT WOLF and STEVE “THE AQUAMAN” EPPSTEIN paced the
scoring…….
The key to the win tonight was our depth on offense,” a relieved MARC BRAFMAN said after the
game. “Everyone on the team got on base and the bottom third of our line-up (SNYDER, S. WOLF
and DUFF WOLF really came through with big hits. EPPY also continued his torrid second half with
a couple of knocks and of course GREG and TYLER (WOLF) crushing the ball helped.”
The captain added, “The defense was a little shaky early in the game, but buckled down when it
mattered most.” WES WOLF, HARRIS, DAVID “VOTTO” WEIL, S. WOLF and NORM
FRANKEL all made clutch plays in the last two innings…………………….
