Thursday July 1……10:59 a.m…..again, CONGRATS to TEAM GREFER for winning the first half championship!!!!!!!……in game action from last night on games reported in at presstime….TEAM LOON took a step backwards in their chase for the PINK SHIRT as they defeated TEAM EPPSTEIN, 9-4, to snap a four game losing streak….MARK NEWMAN returned to play and collected three hits….GREG “THE SPIDER” LEADER also had three hits….in his return to the mound, BOB PELBERG pitched a solid game with solid defense supporting him….captain ANTON LOOOOOOOOOOON also would like to thank losing captain STEVE “DONUTS” EPPSTEIN for following through with his bet that if his team lost, he would treat the winners to chicken wings after the game….it should be noted that all the wings were NOT eaten by TEAM LOON players….oops!!!!!!….also noted Blogger ROGER “ROGZILLA” ROSENTHAL (ME) was seen before this game of one win teams trying to stir things up (what else is new?) with LOOOOOON, but he would have nothing of it….the gentleman that he is…..in the other game reported in….TEAM SILVERMAN blew a five run lead in the top of the 7th inning only to prevail in nine innings….JOHN BERG and MARK LEVINE were key in the top of the 8th inning with their pitching and defense respectively….in the bottom of the inning ROCKET and captain RYAN SILVERMAN had base knocks and with them on 2nd and 3rd base and one out, ERWIN NEUMAN hit a scorcher to 2B DAN GLASSMAN who made a terrific play on and made a equally terrific throw to home to try and gun down ROCKET, but to no avail as the speedy one slid in with the winning run….other key contributors were DAVID SNYDER with his hitting and ALON ZIMMERMAN with some nice catches in RF….in other action TEAM GREFER 10 runned the slumping TEAM CRONSTEIN and in the “upset” of the season, TEAM LEFTON, winning their second in a row after six losses, stunned TEAM SCHWARTZ……NO reports in on either game as of yet, but the BLOG does know that WILLIE WAXLER was awarded the game ball after TEAM LEFTON’S victory….rumor has it that he has already posted the ball on E-BAY trying to make a buck…..the second half begins next week with all sorts of rumors flying around as the captains try to jockey themselves into position to win the 2nd half title…..stay tuned!!!!!!!!!STAR SIGHTINGS…..this blogger was in 7th heaven last night at the “chicken” place as CYCLONES coach CHUCK WEBER and the recently won KELLY CUP were in attendance and pictures were taken that hopefully will show up on the JCC SOFTBALL website at some point….questions/comments to r.rosenthal@fuse.net …….
