ROGER’S HOT CORNER…………

Thursday July 16……..7:59 p.m……..the usual reliable report once again comes in from JOEL FOGEL about his team…….another loss in a high scoring affair vs. TEAM FRANKLIN….DAVID ”DEE” HARRIS once again pitched and is glad regular pitcher JAN BECKER will be back from rehab (check his ERA)……..also ANDY COHEN, now a father, will return to action……..rumor has it that TEAM FOGEL was late getting to their post-game meal as they were signing autographs after the game……they were giving fans a reported $2.50 for each autograph they signed……...r.rosenthal@fuse.net……….

ROGER’S HOT CORNER…………

Thursday July 16………….11:14 a.m………there are no more undefeated teams as TEAM LOOOOOOOOOOON defeated TEAM WERNICK, 5-1, in a very well played defensive game on both sides in record time…………BARRY KAPLAN came up big on the mound as he gave up a lone homerun by NICK RUEZSER for the only score……other notable contributions came from ALAN LESSURE who played well behind the plate and gunned down would be base stealer MIKE SMALL to prevent a possible run………JOSH LITMAN was the hitting star with a three-run homerun…..kudos go to the TEAM WERNICK crew as well as JOEL TSVAET gunned down BARRY KAPLAN trying to stretch a single into a double……MIKE SMALL, STEVE OSTROW and DAVE WERNICK played a stellar defense and finally ROGER ROSENTHAL belted a double over a pulled in outfield……..in the other game reported……….TEAM EPPSTEIN continuted their perfect second half start (3-0) with a 10-3 victory over TEAM NEWMAN…….it was a total team effort with good pitching, defense and timely hitting as the victors broke open a 4-3 game with six runs in the seventh inning as GARRETT ROBERTS, JORDAN GUTTMAN and BRAD WAGNER were the hitting stars……..once again the bank account of STEVE EPPSTEIN shrunk as he paid for his team’s meals afterwards along with a few others that jumped on the bandwagon……other winners were TEAM FRANKLIN and TEAM SCHWARTZ, but as of press time there were NO reports into the newsroom……..any questions. comments..send to r.rosenthal@fuse.net………….

ROGER’S HOT CORNER…………

Wednesday July 15…..11:47 a.m……….first off…..HAPPY BIRTHDAY to ADAM CRONSTEIN!!!!!…….games tonight wil be iffy because of the weather so be sure to check to see if games are on before heading to the ball park…….ESPN GAME OF THE WEEK is TEAM LOOOOOOON, coming off a tough loss last week, vs. TEAM WERNICK, off a bye, on Field 4……TEAM SCHWARTZ, 1-1, plays an undefeated TEAM GREFER at 2-0, and an improved TEAM EPPSTEIN, at 2-0, plays TEAM NEWMAN, 1-1,…….the other game are two winless teams with TEAM FOGEL vs. TEAM FRANKLIN…….I don’t know how others feel about the MLB All-Star game, but I think it’s a joke now…….the winner determines the homefield for the World Series regardless of records of the two teams……i.e. Los Angeles Dodgers could win 105 games and be playing the Texas Rangers with 90 wins……L.A. deserves home field…….it’s done in the other three major sports (except Super Bowl at neutral field)…….also, what happens if the game is A.) rained out, or B.) game is a one run game in the ninth inning when it starts to rain and the game is finally called…….real fair…….another point is if it means that much why should all the teams be represented and why not play the game to “win” meaning play it like a regular season game and play the best players the whole game…….any thoughts or comments can be sent to me at r.rosenthal@fuse.net ………………..

ROGER’S HOT CORNER…………

Thursday July 9………..9:17 a.m……….TEAM EPPSTEIN defeated TEAM KIRZNER, 8-7, as game balls were awarded to MATT STEINBERG and SCOTT ”SHORTY” ADAMS for their play……..STEINBERG tripled, homered and played well at shortstop, while ADAMS played a flawless second base…..kudos also go to JORDAN GUTTMAN who cranked a three-run homerun……….TEAM EPPSTEIN have won their first two games of the second half and it’s believed a lot of that has to do with captain STEVE EPPSTEIN treating his team to dinner after every win………hope he’s got a BIG bank account!!!!!!!!!! kudos also go to RYAN KIRZNER who cranked a homerun for TEAM KIRZNER………questions/comments, etc. can be sent to r.rosenthal@fuse.net……….
