TEAM LEFTON GOES EXTRA INNINGS TO TAKE DOWN TEAM CRONSTEIN……

EDITORS NOTE…..Finally, I get a game recap from captain RICK LEFTON…….glad he had time in his BUSY schedule to give little old me a story….

In what might have been one of the best games in recent JCC softball league history, TEAM LEFTON nipped TEAM CRONSTEIN, 11-10, in 11 innings……

The victors are now showing life as they go to 3-1 for the second half as “WEEZE” LEFTON pitched a gutsy game in the absence of regular starter, brother JIMMY LEFTON, who was following the game thanks to brother RICK’S skypping the game…..

In this epic game, there were many heroes as regulation ended at 6-6 and after two scoreless innings, TEAM CRONSTEIN scored three runs in the top of the 9th inning only to have TEAM LEFTON bounce back with three spot as ALEX LEFTON completed the string of clutch hitting by knocking in the tying run….

After a scoreless 10th inning, the marathon game continued into the 11th inning as the crowd continued to react to every pitch…..MICHAEL ROTHSTEIN drove in the go ahead run in the top of the frame with a single, but was thrown out at 2B trying to get the extra base which gave the winners a big lift……In the bottom of the inning, after tying the game, super sub JEFF NASH, out of “beautiful” READING, OHIO, knocked in the game winner and the celebration started…..

BIG win for TEAM LEFTON, (3-1), a team that everyone likes because they feel sorry for them, but next week they have a huge match-up against TEAM WEISSER, (2-1), first half champions and in line for another go at a second half title…..

After, the game, captain RICK LEFTON had no thoughts on the upcoming game with this reporter and reportedly turned down ESPN’s BUSTER OLNEY request for an interview as well, but was seen stuffing his mouth with chicken wings at the usual after game hangout…….

TEAM FOGEL WINS SECOND GAME OF THE YEAR…..

TEAM FOGEL defeated TEAM SCHWARTZ in an old fashion pitchers dual as KEN GROH, who received the game ball, out dueled HOWARD SCHWARTZ, 4-2…..

The victors played a flawless defense and DAVID SNYDER had two hits and two RBI’S, while DAVID WEIL called a great game behind the dish…….

After taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning, they added three more runs in the third inning which proved to be the difference as SCHWARTZ was able to only score two runs in the same frame……

FAMILY NIGHT II SET JULY 13……..

The second of two Family Nights is scheduled next week…..all team members will receive tickets to the concession stand and everyone is invited to invite family and friends for a night of softball…..

TEAM WEISSER NIPS TEAM GREFER IN A THRILLER……..

TEAM WEISSER defeated TEAM GREFER, 5-4, in a pitcher’s dual between winning pitcher MARK WEISSER and hard luck loser, JAMIE KURTZER……
The victors trailed 4-1 late in the game only to score two runs to make it 4-3 and plated the deciding two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two-run home run off the bat of FREDDIE WOLF…..
Once again, it was great pitching and a solid defensive effort that helped in the victory…..

Next week, TEAM WEISSER will be tested by an up and coming TEAM LEFTON team that won in unbelievable fashion over TEAM CRONSTEIN…….a hopeful game report will become available…..
