GAME REPORTS……better a little late than never, eh?

While missing their two team leaders in hitting, TEAM KAMRASS defeated TEAM BRAFMAN, 11-10, in walk-off fashion……

Fresh off his return from Israel, DAVID “DANCING WITH THE STARS” SOLOMON proved prophetic in his quote from last week’s report by delivering the hit of the night with a three run triple to the fence…..he earned the game ball for the strong hitting and solid defense behind the plate….

ADAM “CRON-O-MATIC” CRONSTEIN continued his strong hitting this season as well with a monster shot that looked like it was heading for GREG “BIG GIG” FRANKLIN’S car, which he said was a “total coincidence”…..

JASON “THE MAD HUNGARIAN” FAUST got the team out of several jams with clutch pitching, including a key strikeout and a groundout to him with the bases loaded……

“I told BRAFMAN (MARC) this game would be revenge for him drafting a different pitcher this season. I love it when I’m right,” FAUST said afterwards…….

JARED “DEREK DIETRICH” KAMRASS came through with the walk-off sacrifice fly to score RAFI “VELOCIRAFTOR” GOLDFARB who utilized some nifty base running to reach home safely with the winning run….

“I’m basically YASIEL PUIG. We both had walk off hits tonight,” KAMRASS said…..

“I was thrilled to earn the win in my first nail-biter as a captain, which catapulted the team into second place and I’m excited to play TEAM HOWARD SCHWARTZ next week,” the captain said.

“It’ll be fun to see how my three games of being a captain experience match up against his approximately 737426482615485725274 games of experience” he added………..

It was a heartbreaking loss and anyone who has played for TEAM BRAFMAN for the last 2 1/2 years knows that he has one rule that he preaches from before the season even starts…..that rule is when you catch the ball, run it in and call timeout and don’t throw it around…..

The captain needs to take his own advice as a terrible throw in the bottom of the 7th inning with the bases loaded allowed the winning run to score from third base…..

“It’s never fun to lose and it’s even less fun when you’re the reason your team lost”, a dejected BRAFMAN said after the game…..”I only talk about not throwing the ball around from before the season starts and why I didn’t think to take my own advice is something that I’ll think about the rest of the season.”

On the plus side, TEAM BRAFMAN battled back from a 7-1 hole to tie the game in the top of the 7th inning…..

The offense was led by PAT “SUNSHINE” FELDMAN, the SUNSHINE boys of JERRY “DOC” KIRZNER, BOB “SUNSET” FELDMAN and sub DOUG SANDOR who each had big hits in the comeback…..

ZACH “ZZ TOP” ZACKUM also had two hits and 2 RBI’s….ERIC “THE MOUTH OF THE MIDWEST” GRUEN also continued with a couple of hard knocks…….

On defense, RANDY “TEX” BROYLES made three tough plays on the mound….SANDOR turned two DP….AARON “STRAIGHT OTTA” COMPTON and SUNSHINE all had nice plays….PAT robbed DAVID “D-SOLE” SOLOMON on a long ball into the LCF gap, this after he clubbed a bases clearing triple……

Said FELDMAN post game, “I think David needs to take a p-test. I think he ate some hummus laced with the balk cream or clear when he was in Israel last week.”

TYLER STANSBURY was the offensive star hitting two home runs over the fence and had seven RBI’s…..

For TEAM GREFER, MARK TENENHOLTZ was the hitting star going four for four with a home run over the CF fence….

MIKE CREEMER had a great defensive game behind the plate, several strong base hits and an incredible show of speed while tagging from third base with the go-ahead run……….

The victors led 7-2 heading into the 6th inning when TEAM LEADER plated four runs to cut the lead  to one run…..In the top of the 7th inning, ANTON LOON hit an inside the park home run to tie the game only to show the resiliency to rally back with back to back hits by JOSH KLEYMEYER and SCOTT “SHORTY” ADAMS and JEFF WEISBROT driving in the winning run…..

PHIL “COLLINS” GANSON brought the offensive firepower including a triple just short of the outfield fence……

MITCHELL “BOB” EVANS led the defense with several warning track catches in LF….DAN GREEN pitched a solid game……

“Overall a solid team performance,” TAYLOR SCHWARTZ said post-game……

JONATHAN “SUNFLOWER” SUSSMAN told reporters afterwards, “We’re 2-0 since I grew out my mustache. I’m not sure that’s a direct correlation, but Corky Miller would be proud……

* I think it would have been better for RABBI YITZ to play LF in the woods last night since he seemed to spend as much time there as he did on the field……..

**This upcoming week, JASON “THE MAD HUNGARIAN” FAUST gets his first crack at his former captain, MARC BRAFMAN and he has promised to strike him out along with GRUEN and COMPTON which most believe will result in him throwing at least two pitches completely over the backstop…..STAY TUNED FOR AN UPDATE NEXT WEEK………..

***ROGER “THE LIP” ROSENTHAL advocates for the type of baseball that LEO “THE LIP” DUROCHER or maybe RON ROSE played 50 years ago……

After brooding at the eatery most players go to after games, he stated for the record he would quote “go after” players that bunt or steal bases with their team way up on the scoreboard…..

EDITOR’S NOTE…..ROSENTHAL would not go after players physically (thank g– for him), but would get a few choice words in……

“These young guys have never felt my chin music before ROSENTHAL said seeming to forget that guys in the league are real players and NOT bobbleheads like his normal friends. Every day I try and live up to the XAVIER UNIVERSITY motto which is Vidit Mirabilla Magna which translated from Latin means, watch your back punk, the MUSKIES are coming.”

Nothing much good about the game as the defense fell apart in the top of the sixth inning and from a 3-3 tie, it would be 11-3 after the top of the inning……

Kudos do go out for two defensive web gems by JEREMY FOGEL in LCF when he dove and extended to make an unbelievable catch and to 2B GARY FISHER who fielded a ball behind the second base bag and tagged the base with the ball to get a force out……….

Also of note…..BOB PELBERG legged out a triple and scored from 3B on a sac fly…….WOW!!!!!!

“It was a matter of time before the bats woke up,” said captain MARC BRAFMAN afterwards.

What started in the rain-shortened game last week kept right on coming as far as the offense goes.

After a slow start, the victors exploded for eight runs in the top of the sixth inning to blow the game open and win going away….

The offensive charge was led by PAT “SUNSHINE” FELDMAN, BRAD “THE HUMAN RAIN DELAY” WAGNER, RANDY “TEX” BROYLES, BOB “SUNSET” FELDMAN and BRAFMAN, all coming up with big hits…..

“It was good to get the offense going. I knew all season that our bats would wake up and they have the last two weeks,” BRAFMAN said.

The defense was also on display as ZACH “ZZ TOP” ZACKEM made two great plays at 2B, while JERRY “DOC” KIRZNER and ERIC “THE MOUTH OF THE MIDWEST” GRUEN also provided fine glove work at catcher and RF…..

However, the wed gem master was AARON “STRAIGHT OUTTA” COMPTON who made two very nice catches and snagged a line drive that turned into a 6-4 double play when he doubled up ROGER ROSENTHAL…..

“I’m tired of the young guys showing us up. Tonight I showed them how SS should be played,” the normally quiet COMPTON said after the game……

A tip of the cap goes to JEREMY “HAMILTON” FOGEL who made two great diving catches in LCF…….

TEAM KAMRASS got their first victory of the young season as they cruised to a five inning win…..

JASON FAUST was unstoppable and had a strong defense behind him led by ADAM “THE GREEK FREAK” HELDMAN and RAFI “ANYTHING YOU CAN HIT, I CAN CATCH” GOLDFARB…..

The hit parade was led by J. “RILEY” ABLE and the HELDMAN bash cousins, ADAM, who hit his first homerun and ANDY “NEW KNEES” HELDMAN continued to show off his improved speed by tagging up and scoring from third base….

“SUPER” JAMES SWAN laid down a perfect bunt and STEVE “SILENT G” TARTAGLIA recorded his first hit and RBI of his JCC softball career with a bases loaded smash….

Other stars were…..ADAM VOTTOMATIC” CRONSTEIN launched a few balls for hits and RBI’s and played great defense with his family cheering him on in the stands….BEN “DOUBLE B” BARNETT had a great game at the plate and in the field….JARED “DEREK DIETRICH” KAMRASS had timely hitting and sealed the victory with a great defensive play at 2B…..

“That was a huge win against a very strong team,” captain MICAH KAMRASS said. “Everyone hit and everyone played strong defense. If we keep that up, we’ll be very tough to beat.”

A side note….

From Israel, while changing young people’s lives leading the March of the Living trip, DAVID “DANCING WITH THE STARS” SOLOMON chimed in, “Get ready TEAM BRAFMAN. I”ll be back next week and I’m ready to crush some softballs.”

TEAM SCHWARTZ got their their first taste of victory with a pounding of TEAM GROH….

“It was a all around team effort with contributions from everyone,” an elated captain TAYLOR SCHWARTZ afterwards……

DAN GREEN made his first pitching performance of the young season and threw a gem. After giving up three runs in the opening frame, mostly off of bloop hits, he buckled down and half the opposition to two runs over the next six innings…..

JOSH KLEYMEYER was fantastic behind home plate, blocking every pitch in sight and the rest of the defense was stout not committing any errors……

JEFF WEISBROT appeared in his first game following an injury that goes back to last season and the team was thrilled to have him and he responded with multiple key hits off his best buddy KEN GROH……

The game turned in the 4th inning when STEVE EPPSTEIN led off with a single and had a “stolen base” and later RYAN SILVERMAN made a heads up play when he stole home……COREY SCHWARTZ contributed in a big way by collecting four hits in four at bats…….

Leading 10-5 in the top of the final frame, the victors added to their lead with three inside the park home runs by SILVERMAN, GREEN and MITCHELL “MEATBALL” EVANS……

After the game, JONATHAN “SUNFLOWER” SUSSMAN told reporters, “I told coach before the game I was going to hit two home runs. If the wind wasn’t blowing in, I would have. I’m happy for the team and it feels great to win our first game. I can’t wait for practice at 6 a.m. tomorrow.”

Only negative for COREY SCHWARTZ was that his Colorado Avalanche went down in game seven in their series against the San Jose Sharks….oh well……..

EDITOR’S NOTE…..MY TEAM, THE LOS ANGELES KINGS DIDN’T EVEN MAKE POST-SEASON………….
