GAME RECAPS FROM JULY 18……

First to report in……..

Reported by MARC BRAFMAN……

BRAFMAN 9         LEFTON 8

TEAM BRAFMAN got back on the winning track with a typical last inning come from behind

victory over TEAM LEFTON…..

They trailed by a run entering the bottom of the 7th inning…..

“It’s never easy for our team. We seem to always find ourselves in close games. I’m just glad we came

out on top, ” BRAFMAN said afterwards.

As has been the case since week 1, this was a total team effort…….

On the offensive side, DAVE “THE MINISTER OF FUN” COHEN had two hits including the game

tying single…..also getting into the act were ERIC “THE MOUTH OF THE MIDWEST” GRUEN

with a couple of base knocks and a delayed stolen base, JASON “THE MAD HUNGARIAN”

FAUST with three hits, however the big offensive hero was JOEL “THE WRATH OF” KAHN who

was 3 for 4 with four RBI’s including the game winning single with the bases loaded……

“I’m happy to bust out of my slump in a big way tonight. This was the turnaround I need to get

cranking in the second half, ” KAHN said after the game winner.

The defense as also key as RILEY ABLE, AARON COMPTON, MIKE “THE FLASH” CREEMER

and of course JEREMY “HAMILTON” FOGEL made all the plays look easy in LCF, but the big play

was turned in by LEON “THE BULL” SESERMAN robbing MIKE ROTHSTEIN of extra bases with

a great play at 3B….

Asked what advice his roommate TAYLOR SCHWARTZ had been giving him to help him stay

focused he said, “Being with a woman all night never hurt any JCC softball player, but this is

important being up all night looking for a woman that will do you in.”

Finally, no game would be complete without contributions from FAUST on the mound as he threw

two balls into the concession stand area, but also struck out four and made a couple of plays in the

field with one comeback that resulted with him falling over.

Faust explained, “You start chasing a ball and your brain immediately commands your body to run

forward, bend, scoop up the ball, peg it to first base, then your body says, “who me?”

GAME REPORTS AS THEY BECOME AVAILABLE…….

First to report in is………..

LEFTON 14         SCHWARTZ 13

reported by ROGER ROSENTHAL

In what was one of the more exciting games of the season, TEAM LEFTON never gave up and came

back from a six run deficit late in the game and plated the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the

7th inning on a two run walk off home run over the right field fence off the bat of JIMMY

LEFTON….MIKE ROTHSTEIN notched his second victory of the season as he started on the hill….

The whole team contributed offensively, but in particular the bottom of the batting order……ROGER

ROSENTHAL, EDDIE GALLOP and AARON KAPLAN all had key base knocks, but  rookie

BRAD GALLOP had two triples including one late in the game which was a key in the comeback…..

Defensively, the play of the game was turned in by DAVID WERTHEIM, starting his first game at

SS….the bases were loaded with two outs when a line drive was hit to 3B ROSENTHAL who

knocked it down, only to have WERTHEIM grab it and force the runner at home….what a play!!!!!

In other action……

HIUDT 13              BRAFMAN 3

reported by MARC BRAFMAN

TEAM BRAFMAN got taken behind the woodshed by the ZACH ATTACH (sic)….

The losing captain said afterwards, “When the highlight of the game happens on a bouncing grounder

to third on the first play of the game you know you’re in for a long day.”

“Give credit to Zach and his team as they came out and pounded us early”, Brafman added.

Not many noteworthy notes, but JASON “THE MAD HUNGARIAN” FAUST had a couple of hits as

did AARON COMPTON and BRAFMAN.

Defensively, JEREMY “HAMILTON” FOGEL continued his gold glove work in LCF while LEON

“THE BULL” SESERMAN showed off his smooth footwork and arm in the first inning.
