Saturday April 24……1:11 a.m……STAR SIGHTINGS SO FAR THIS WEEK……rookie RABBI BEREL COHEN was spotted at the Blue Ash Post Office with an Ohio State yamika on….GREG LEADER,DAN CRONSTEIN, ROGZILLA ROSENTHAL AND ex-player LAWRENCE KURTZMAN were at the CYCLONES game 4 loss at US BANK ARENA……any newsworthy notes can be sent to me at r.rosenthal@fuse.net……

Thursday April 22……3:29 p.m…….other game results….TEAM SCHWARTZ defeated TEAM GUTTMAN 4-0, as HOWARD SCHWARTZ pitched another gem with key hits delivered by HAL FINE and BEN RODRIGUEZ and a great job defensively at third base by RICHARD GOLDFARB…..STU WEINSTEIN, a newcomer to the mound this season, pitched well in the defeat prompting captain BRANDON GUTTMAN to say, “We already know he’s a top hitter in the league, but Stu will be a pitching force to be reckoned with in this league.”…….NO report in on the TEAM CRONSTEIN 16-7 victory over TEAM EPPSTEIN stopped after six innings because of darkness though yours truely was there, but NOT there as a reporter…..ADAM CRONSTEIN……where are you?…..in a nutshell, BARRY KAPLAN pitched a fine game with MATT STEINBERG playing solid defense at shortstop and cmbining with his father BOB STEINBERG on a nifty double play at a crucial time of the game…..hits were spread out throughout the team except for DAN CRONSTEIN, but this proves that TEAM CRONSTEIN can win without one of their “stars” contributing……for comments/questions…….e-mail me at r.rosenthal@fuse.net…..

Thursday April 22………..6:23 a.m…….under clear skies and warm tempatures, the 2010 JCC Softball League season got underway and there were some good games……TEAM LOON had the week off, but captain ANTON LOON still predicted before the season even began, “Look out for our team. We’re going to surprise again like last year.”….the once soft spoken LOON has issued the first trash talk of the young season……back to the games…..early reports of games into the newsroom at press time saw TEAM SILVERMAN with RYAN SILVERMAN, in his first season as captain, coming back from a nine run deficit to knock off veteran captain GARY GREFER and TEAM GREFER, 15-14, in an eight inning game…..the game ball went to the entire team as the whole squad chipped in with key hits in the victory….special mention goes to JOHNNY BERG, with his parents in attendance again, going 4 for 5, JOSH LISMAN,collecting three hits, and AARON COMPTON playing a stellar third base while also getting three hits….the rookies chipped in as well as MARK LEVINE had three hits, RUSSELL WHITE had two key hits and ERWIN NEUMAN played a solid shortstop……in other action TEAM KIRZNER blew TEAM LEFTON out 16-7….after jumping out to a 10-2 lead, TEAM LEFTON fought back with five in the 5th inning, but TEAM KIRZNER countered with five of their own in the top of the 6th inning and one more in the 7th to complete the scoring…….rookie EVAN COHEN was awarded the game ball collecting three hits……as of press time, the late game reports involving TEAM EPPSTEIN/TEAM CRONSTEIN and TEAM SCHWARTZ/TEAM GUTTMAN hadn’t been reported though TEAM SCHWARTZ defeated TEAM GUTTMAN, 4-0 AND TEAM CRONSTEIN knocked off TEAM EPPSTEIN, 16-7, as ADAM CRONSTEIN, another rookie captain, smelled victory right off the bat…….details on these games to follow when they become available…..AGAIN….players met afterwards at their favorite watering holes and had a good time…..comments/questions can be sent to r.rosenthal@fuse.net……

Welcome to the 2010 BLOG for the 2010 JCC Softball Season…….to the newcomers my name is ROGER ROSENTHAL a.k.a. ROGZILLA and the BLOG’s main purpose is to provide information on the league a.k.a. game recaps and notes and tidbits….feel free to contribute by e-mailing me at r.rosenthal@fuse.net….Games are scheduled to begin tomorrow evening with the following match-ups….Field 1….LEFTON/KIRZNER; Field 2….CRONSTEIN/EPPSTEIN; Field 3….SILVERMAN/GREFER and Field 4….GUTTMAN/SCHWARTZ….LOON has a first week bye…..Game time for all games are 6:15, but captains are requesting their players to get to the fields by 6:00if possible….think we might be cancelled by the weather?….call the WEATHER LINE at 728-3551 Ext. 384….this season has three new captains…..RYAN SILVERMAN, ADAM CRONSTEIN and BRANDON GUTTMAN….Good Luck to them as well as the veteran captains….also, there are a record number of new players in the league……WELCOME….May the games begin and the BLOG wishes everyone GOOD LUCK and HAPPY SOFTBALLING!!!!!
