Satureday June 13……..5:04 p.m…….we’ve had sooooooo much rain this year and not a lot to report on so I’m throwing some thoughts out to you……How BAD are the Chicago Cubs and could the J.C.C. softball league come up with a team that could beat them?…….in case you missed it…….Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals last night was a classic……2-1 victory for the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins over the defending champion Detroit Red Wings……..Game 5 of the N.B.A. Finals is tomorrow night in Orlando with the Los Angeles Lakers leading 3 games to 1 after the Magic “choked” in Game 4……..any thoughts on any sports stories are always welcome to the BLOG……..e-mail them to me at r.rosenthal@fuse.net……….

ROGER’S HOT CORNER…………

Friday June 5……4:09 p.m……..TEAM GREFER defeated TEAM FRANKLIN, 16-12, and winning captain GARY GREFER described the game as “ugly”…..wonder what GREG “GIG” FRANKLIN described it as?………the victors came from behind sparked by BEN HELDMAN’S leadoff double (he doesn’t get that from his old man)……..DAVID FOX hit a three-run homerun for the losers ……r.rosenthal@fuse.net

ROGER’S HOT CORNER…………

Thursday……June 4……….12:59 p.m………First off, here’s to a successful Adams Golf Outing/Dinner today…….it’s a worthy cause and this evening our own SCOTT WOLF will be honored/roasted as well……..now to softball action from last night…….TEAM WERNICK continued their winning ways as they jumped out to a 18-2 lead and won 18-9…………the whole team contributed on offense especially NICK RUEZSER, MIKE SMALL and ROGER ROSENTHAL (NO typo)…….one note from the game…..ROSENTHAL made his season debut behind the plate late in the game and lasted one inning before JOHN BERG begged for his “personal” catcher, GARY ASKIN, to get back behind the plate…….in other action…….TEAM FOGEL defeated TEAM EPPSTEIN, 16-10……captain FOGEL reports that JAN BECKER pitched a solid game walking just one batter, while rookies ANDY COHEN and SETH GUTTMAN were key in the offensive attack…..a key play in the game according to the winning captain was in the first inning when veteran catcher DAVID “THE WILEY VETERAN” WEIL backed up an errant throw to first base and when the runner tried for second base, he was “gunned” down…….ANDY “THE COWBOY” IGNATOW played in his first game and was solid on defense and was a presence in the four hole…….quotes after the game…..FOGEL said, “I like the way this team competes. Tonight was the first game of the season with a full squad and no subs. We were looking forward to getting Dan Green back next week which will add more pop in the line-up and speed in the outfield.”……..NO other games to report as the other captains must still be on vacation………r.rosenthal@fuse.net ………………..
