What a day for a softball game!!!!!
The JCC ALL-STAR game was played this afternoon and when the dust had settled, TEAM EPPSTEIN/GREFER defeated TEAM GLASSMAN/ROSE, 9-7….
Highlights (provided by COMMISSIONER RYAN KIRZNER) were aplenty……
*MATT STEINBERG, the game’s MVP (MOST VALUABLE PLAYER……again!!!!) was 2 for 4 including a 3-run homerun over the fence off of HOWARD SCHWARTZ, four RBI’s and a web gem robbing first time all-star MICHAEL ASKIN of a hit and at least one RBI…..
Other notes for the winning team……JIMMY LEFTON was the winning pitcher as he hurled four innings and gave up three earned runs, four hits and walked two……BRAD WAGNER was 2 for 4 including a triple (he must be fast), but was thrown out at home to complete a double play on a great catch by DUFFY WOLF and a relay throw to WILLY WAXLER to catcher THE ROCKET, who blocked the plate to prevent the run…….JASON FAUST was 2 for 3 and was caught trying to steal home (BAD BOY!)……his pitching line was 3 IP 4 ER 6 H and 2 BB, but it should be noted he pitched a four pitch 1-2-3 inning……..ZAC HIUDT was 3 for 3 with one run scored and two web gems in RCF……RYAN SILVERMAN was 2 for 2 with 2 BB and 1 RBI…..DOUG SANDOR was 2 for 3 with one run scored and finally, DAVID SNYDER was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and one RBI….
For the losing squad……BRANDON GUTTMAN was 2 for 4 with a lead off homerun off his own pitcher JASON FAUST, a double, two RBI and two runs scored…..THE ROCKET was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and one RBI……MIKE ROTHSTEIN was 2 for 2 and one walk and finally BEN LEFTON was 1 for 2 with a double and sacrafice fly……
**Also of note was the HOMERUN DERBY won by BEN LEFTON with ANTON LOON coming in second place….the others in order were JIMMY LEFTON and MATT STEINBERG (THE FAVORITE) tied for third place and BRANDON GUTTMAN in fifth place…..
***FINALLY……….this Wednesday, the FINALS are scheduled at 6 p.m. on Field # 2 between the “heavy” favorite # 2 seed TEAM GUTTMAN and the surprise team, # 8 seed TEAM WEISBROT……It will be open concessions (non=alcolhol) for all softball players and their families plus as an added bonus…….JASON FAUST WILL BE SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS FOR FREE AFTER THE GAME…..WIN OR LOSE……
