Thursday April 29…..8:59 p.m…..game report from the TEAM GREFER 6-5 victory over TEAM LEFTON….the victors came back from an early 4-0 defecit, thanks to 7th inning hits from MIKE SMALL, DAN GREFER, TODD WASSERMAN, MARK TESSEL, ANDY JENNINGS AND GARY GREFER…..the game was dominated by great pitching from winning pitcher MIKE GRAY and losing pitcher JIMMY LEFTON….kudos also go to the nimble BEN “WEEZIE” LEFTON, who made two great defensive plays in the outfield…..STAR SIGHTINGS…..MARK WOLF was spotted at the Cyclones Game 5 2-1 victory over Charlotte on his birthday Saturday night….comments, questions, etc……r.rosenthal@fuse.net….

Friday April 30….4:29 p.m…..STAR SIGHTING…..(courtesy of RYAN KIRZNER)….BEREL COHEN is quoted in this morning’s Cincinnati Enquirer on Page D3….check it out…..back to the action from Wednesday night….TEAM KIRZNER defeated TEAM EPPSTEIN, 18-8, as strong pitching from veteran MARK WEISSER and some timely hitting provided the victory….hitting stars were aplenty as Commissioner MIKE ROTHSTEIN was 4 for 5 with five RBI’s and three runs scored; BRAD WAGNER went 3 for 5 with three RBI’s and rookie BILLY GRAY was 4 for 4 with three RBI’s and reached base all five plate appearances; DAN GLASSMAN, catching now instead of his normal second base spot in spite of being hit in the forearm in practice, went 4 for 5 in the lead-off spot scoring all four times and had two RBI’s …..TEAM EPPSTEIN, behind SCOTT WOLF, rookie ALEC BOCHNER (the better BOCHNER), captain STEVE EPPSTEIN and sub RON “ROCKET” NASSIF provided the offense to get TEAM EPPSTEIN back in the game after falling behind big early…..catcher ALAN “CAN I PLEASE RUN THE BASES WITH MY SHIN GUARDS ON” LESSURE was also instrumental with his base running (did I just type that?….the victors were able to withstand a late rally and put the game away in the 7th inning with four runs….with the victory it sets up an early season match-up with another undefeated team, TEAM

Thursday April 29….11:59 a.m….CONGRATS TO THE CYCLONES FOR ADVANCING TO THE CONFERENCE FINALS STARTING TOMORROW NIGHT VS. THE READING ROYALS….now to softball action from last night….first to report in is TEAM GUTTMAN and for good reason…..captain BRANDON “BK” GUTTMAN captured his first victory as a captain….after leading TEAM LOON, 6-1, and then falling behind 7-6, they wouldn’t be denied as they came back with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to secure the win….hitting stars were aplenty as JARROD “J-ROD” HIUDT went 3 for 3 with a homerun; SCOTT “SHORTY” ADAMS was 3 for 3; rookie CHRIS “REESE” RAFTERY, already being touted by his captain for Rookie Of The Year honors, was 3 for 3 with a triple and three RBI’s; ABE “ILITY” DAHAN went 2 for 3 with a stolen base and a run scored; BRANDON “BK” GUTTMAN was 3 for 3 with three stolen bases, three runs scored and two RBI’s and finally, “YOUNG GUN” JOEY HIUDT stole a another base and is proving that he he’s a force on the basepaths….kudos also go to ANDY A.I. IGNATOW, ZAC “HYPHE” HIUDT and KEN “FEAR THE” FEHR who turned a double play; and “SUPER” STU WEINSTEIN and battery mate GARY “JUST” ASKIN…..NOTE: if BRANDON “BK” GUTTMAN wants a second career, he can be my co-editor for THE BLOG a.k.a. he writes a lot….as of presstime this was the only game with information provided……other winners were TEAM SCHWARTZ, TEAM KIRZNER and TEAM GREFER…..comments, suggestions, etc…..r.rosenthal@fuse.net

Saturday April 24……1:11 a.m……STAR SIGHTINGS SO FAR THIS WEEK……rookie RABBI BEREL COHEN was spotted at the Blue Ash Post Office with an Ohio State yamika on….GREG LEADER,DAN CRONSTEIN, ROGZILLA ROSENTHAL AND ex-player LAWRENCE KURTZMAN were at the CYCLONES game 4 loss at US BANK ARENA……any newsworthy notes can be sent to me at r.rosenthal@fuse.net……

Thursday April 22………..6:23 a.m…….under clear skies and warm tempatures, the 2010 JCC Softball League season got underway and there were some good games……TEAM LOON had the week off, but captain ANTON LOON still predicted before the season even began, “Look out for our team. We’re going to surprise again like last year.”….the once soft spoken LOON has issued the first trash talk of the young season……back to the games…..early reports of games into the newsroom at press time saw TEAM SILVERMAN with RYAN SILVERMAN, in his first season as captain, coming back from a nine run deficit to knock off veteran captain GARY GREFER and TEAM GREFER, 15-14, in an eight inning game…..the game ball went to the entire team as the whole squad chipped in with key hits in the victory….special mention goes to JOHNNY BERG, with his parents in attendance again, going 4 for 5, JOSH LISMAN,collecting three hits, and AARON COMPTON playing a stellar third base while also getting three hits….the rookies chipped in as well as MARK LEVINE had three hits, RUSSELL WHITE had two key hits and ERWIN NEUMAN played a solid shortstop……in other action TEAM KIRZNER blew TEAM LEFTON out 16-7….after jumping out to a 10-2 lead, TEAM LEFTON fought back with five in the 5th inning, but TEAM KIRZNER countered with five of their own in the top of the 6th inning and one more in the 7th to complete the scoring…….rookie EVAN COHEN was awarded the game ball collecting three hits……as of press time, the late game reports involving TEAM EPPSTEIN/TEAM CRONSTEIN and TEAM SCHWARTZ/TEAM GUTTMAN hadn’t been reported though TEAM SCHWARTZ defeated TEAM GUTTMAN, 4-0 AND TEAM CRONSTEIN knocked off TEAM EPPSTEIN, 16-7, as ADAM CRONSTEIN, another rookie captain, smelled victory right off the bat…….details on these games to follow when they become available…..AGAIN….players met afterwards at their favorite watering holes and had a good time…..comments/questions can be sent to r.rosenthal@fuse.net……
