ROGER’S HOT CORNER…………

Thursday June 24……11:41 a.m……winners last night included TEAMS SILVERMAN, SCHWARTZ, GREFER and LEFTON….that’s right…..TEAM LEFTON, led by TEDDY “BALLGAME” KANTOR, got their first victory of the season with a 8-5 win over TEAM CRONSTEIN….the ageless KANTOR, hit a clutch bases loaded “single” to help his team and collected another hit and stolen base (NO typo)….TEAM CRONSTEIN, coming in on a two game winning streak, made some key defensive mistakes and couldn’t overcome them, but give credit to TEAM LEFTON, who was destined to get that first victory!!!!!!…..TEAM SILVERMAN came from behind in the seventh inning with a 9-8 victory over TEAM LOOOOOOON…..according to captain RYAN SILVERMAN, DAVID SNYDER keyed the win with his offense and defense with DAVID LEVINE contributing a key RBI and ERWIN NEUMAN getting the game winning RBI…..DAVID FOX pitched six strong innings for TEAM LOOOOOOOOOOON, but just didn’t have enough in the tank at the end…..the other two games are waiting to be reported in….questions/comments to………mailto:to………r.rosenthal@fuse.net

ROGER’S HOT CORNER…………

Thursday June 24…….2:11 p.m……in a HUGE game for the battle for first place, two one loss teams went tooth and nail and when the dust cleared, TEAM GREFER defeated TEAM GUTTMAN, 5-3, TEAM GREFER jumped out to a 5-0 lead only to have TEAM GUTTMAN storm back to within two runs, but a great defensive play by the “old” veteran MARC TESSEL at 2B in the 7th inning sealed the deal….SS MICHAEL SMALL had a couple of key hits as well as playing a stellar defense….GARY GREFER reported that both teams played solid defense, NO surprise considering each had only lost once coming into the battle….in the battle for first place….TEAM GREFER and TEAM SCHWARTZ each have one loss, but TEAM GREFER holds the tie breaker at this time with a win over HOWIE and CO………comments/questions….. r.rosenthal@fuse.net…………

Team Lefton played Tuesday- It was close!

Team Lefton played their game against Team Cronstein Tuesday night, without Team Cronstein in attendence. Team Lefton only had 8 players to start the game.It was not until the bottom of the 5th that Team Lefton had a runner reach 3rd base in 0-0 game through 5 innings.
Again no scoring in the 6th even after 3 intentional walks to Dee Harris, Gordy and Billy “I forgot my BP Medication” Kahn, so the 3 Lefton boys would come to the plate. They go 1,2,3. Hmmm?
Well in the top half of the inning Team Cronstein batted around before an out was made. After Jimmy Lefton was pulled in favor of rag arm “CFL”, things settled down. The bleeding stopped, no one else reach base, in a 1,2,3 relief effort.
Team Lefton started the bottom of the 7th with 2 straight hits, the next batter “Willy” hits a high pop-up in the infield, 1 out on a fieder choice, The runner on 1st,Rick Silverman runs from 1st to 2nd and passes. the runner on second “Teddy Ballgame”, 2 outs. The pop-up hits Teddy Ballgame in the head for the third out! Triple Play! Game over! Team Lefton losses again 4-0.

Team Lefton Will win- guaranteed!

Team Lefton, finally gets a chance to play on their home field, 4, away from all the noise and the media. After scoring 15 runs last week, the pitching and defense will now stop the drip, drip, drip to “Pink Shirt” Award. Team Captain, Rick Lefton said, “this is our field, this is our game to win, we will not be denied! It is our destiny!”
