WELCOME TO THE FIRST ROGER’S HOT CORNER OF THE 2012 JCC SOFTBALL SEASON…..FOR THOSE OF YOU WHOM HAVE PLAYED, WELCOME BACK AND FOR THOSE “ROOKIES” WELCOME……….

WEEK # 1 SUMMARY……

THE FIRST CAPTAIN TO REPORT IN IS…….(drum roll please)…….BRANDON “IVY LEAGUER” GUTTMAN!!!!!!!! HIP HIP HURRAY!!!!!

*TEAM GUTTMAN defeated TEAM SCHWARTZ, 4-3, on Field 2 as DONRUSS RATED ROOKIE pitcher JASON “BIG HAUS” FAUST, pitching is first Opening Day, outdueled future Hall of Famer HOWIE SCHWARTZ……FAUST, son of MARTY and ROZ FAUST, was awarded the game ball for his pitching as well as his hitting, an RBI double in the pivital 6th inning……rookie JEFF “BRICK HAUS” NASH also contributed the game winning RBI……GUTTMAN had unusual stats going 0 for 0 with two walks, four stolen bases and two runs scored…..other key contributors were RANDY “THE MACHO MAN” SANDOW, 1 for 2 with a game-tying RBI and DANNY “THE DOCTOR” GLASSMAN, 2 for 3 with a double and a stolen base……

TEAM SCHWARTZ reports that in a losing effort, SCOTT WOLF provided a spark on offense with his always dazzling baserunning….also noted is the latest father/son combo of ALLEN and JACK COHEN, both with key hits and the fact that both HOWARD SCHWARTZ and RON ROSE, still playing at the tender age of 81, played ball with MAX COHEN, ALLEN’S father and JACK’S grandfather

**TEAM LEADER defeated TEAM  WEISBROT, 8-4, on Field 3 behind the splendid pitching of veteran BARRY KAPLAN……with back-up catcher MARK LEVINE behind the plate, KAPLAN kept the batters off stride with the help of a solid defense behind him……FIVE K’s is believed to be a high for the righty, who moonlights as a realtor…..kudos also go to newcomer JOHNNY BUBLICK, who was 3 for 3……..

***TEAM GREFER defeated TEAM ROTHSTEIN as they had hits galore with a key triple coming off the bat of rookie ADAM BLIMBAUM…..also noted was great baserunning by KYLE GREFER, MARK “TEXAS” WEINGARTEN and LARRY NEWMAN…..veteran hurler DAVID FOX, despite shaky defense by team captain, DANNY GREFER, retired nine straight at one point and got out of a bases loaded one out one run game in the bottom of the 7th inning by getting always tough hitters,  RYAN KIRZNER, who was subbing, and captain MICHAEL ROTHSTEIN to earn game ball honors…..afterwards, team captain DANNY GREFER stated, “he (FOX) is the only legal pitcher in the league.”………STAY TUNED!!!!!!

TEAM ROTHSTEIN captain MICHAEL ROTHSTEIN commented afterwards, “I will say this about my team, I was proud of the way we battled back from six runs down in the first inning and almost coming back from three down in the seventh despite missing several key players.”
