ROGER’S HOT CORNER!!!!!!

It is no wonder that BRANDON GUTTMAN was the first to report in…..

*TEAM GUTTMAN continued their winning ways with a 19-13 victory over TEAM LEADER in a contest that lasted 2 1/2 hours……….WOW!!!!!……..RON “THE ROCKET” NASSIF had a five RBI inning, including a grand slam, his second in two games, and is showing that he may be getting better with age……records are NOT kept in this department, but he may very well be going after a record of consecutive games with a grand slam next game vs. TEAM GREFER………BRANDON “B LE B” LEBEAU went 3 for 4 with a triple and homerun, while the wily veteran TODD “THE MACHINE” WASSERMAN was 3 for 4 and is batting at a .909 clip over the last three games (stats courtesy of GUTTMAN STATS, INC.)…..ANDY STAR “POWER” had two hits, but laid what captain BRANDON GUTTMAN described as a “pancake block on the first baseman” on an errant throw that pulled the fielder off the base into the base path……he was out!…..it should be noted that MR. STARR played for the Buffalo Bills……can you spell……OUCH!!!!!!……

**TEAM ROTHSTEIN broke out of their hitting woes with a 14-4 victory over TEAM CRONSTEIN……according to team captain MICHAEL ROTHSTEIN, it was a total team effort on offense and defense with an extra star given to DOUG SANDOR, who played a solid third base…..

***IN THE BETTER LATE THAN NEVER DEPARTMENT……TEAM GREFER defeated TEAM LEFTON, 14-10, behind timely hitting, great defense and solid pitching from DANNY GREFER…..you read right!!!!…..
in his JCC debut, the captain pitched well to contact and even recorded a strikeout on a 105 miles per hour fastball….hmmmmmmmmm…….homeruns came off the bats of DAVID FOX and EVAN COHEN, while LARRY NEWMAN showed off some of his baserunning skills and sub JAMIE KURTZER flashed some leather on defense……the game ended with 2011 Rookie Of The Year MARK “TEXAS” WEINGARTEN making a diving play up the middle…..

STAR SIGHTINGS…….father DAVID COHEN and son EVAN COHEN were spotted at The Montgomery Inn in Montgomery on Thursday night with the rest of their family……a few people were seen waiting to get EVAN’S autograph, while no one gave a damn about DAVID……

ROGER’S HOT CORNER!!!!!!

*TEAM WEISBROT broke their five game losing streak by defeating TEAM ROTHSTEIN, 9-4, behind the pitching of JASON “BIG HAUS” FAUST, on loan from TEAM GUTTMAN…..in return for the favor, FAUST was paid off in cheap sports caps……offensive highlights came from the entire team, but key contributors were BEN RODRIGUEZ, with a bases loaded clearing double, TEDDY KANTOR, with three hits, rookie JACK “CAJUN” RUBIN, with two hits and JOSH FRANKEL with a homerun and three runs scored……however the JCC SOFTBALL LEAGUE PLAY OF THE YEAR to date came from University of Kentucky graduate, LEV ORLOV, when he leaped over catcher DAVID WEIL to avoid a tag to score a run……WOW!!!!!!!

**TEAM WAGNER finally found their missing hitting sticks as they pounded TEAM LEFTON, 15-2…..behind the outstanding pitching of MARK WEISSER and solid defense from WILL WAXLER, MATT STEINBERG, JOHNNY BERG, STEVE OSTROW, MICHAEL KAHAN and MARK BLOOM…..captain BRAD “WAGS” WAGNER promised a line-up change and it made a BIG difference as STEINBERG led off and was 3 for 5 with three doubles…..JORDAN “THE HOOSIER” COHEN, injured in the game on an errant throw while running to first base, scored four times and had a homerun…..TEAM WAGNER plays first place TEAM SCHWARTZ in a game that will be aired on the Cincinnati Gardens Radio Network…..you need Cincinnati Commandos and/or Cincinnati Kings and/or Cincinnati Roller Girls season tickets in order to pick it up, while TEAM LEFTON battles TEAM GREFER in a game to be aired on WGN-TV……

ALEX LEFTON, ace cub reporter for TEAM LEFTON, reports in that he had a double and a triple…..too bad the rest of the LEFTONS can’t do squat!!!!…..BEREL “BOOM BOOM” COHEN also did his share with two hits and had both RBI’s…..JIMMY LEFTON reportedly pulled his groin and was replaced on the mound in the 7th inning by STEVE  “Z” ZAWATSKY, who was shelled for a nine spot to put the game away….good defense was played by MARC TESSEL at 2B, JERRY KIRZNER at 3B and BEN “WEEZE” LEFTON at SS…….

***TEAM GREFER got back in the victory column with a 18-14 victory of TEAM CRONSTEIN….the victors jumped out to a big lead and held back a comeback to post the win……DAVID COHEN, father of Syracuse University bound EVAN COHEN, had a triple and a great catch, while KYLE GREFER had four hits and a diving catch……sub JEFF NASH (TEAM GUTTMAN) had four hits to help spark the victory….GREG “GIG” FRANKLIN played through an injury or “old” age to pitch well enough for the win with the game ending on a diving catch by sub BRIAN GOLDBERG to end the game…..

ROGER’S HOT CORNER!!!!!!!

*In the IT’S BETTER LATE THAN NEVER DEPT., cub reporter ALEX LEFTON reports in from his TEAM LEFTON’S 4-3 victory over the slump-ridden TEAM WEISBROT……a pitching dual or lack of hitting or both?……JIMMY LEFTON had three hits and knocked in a couple of runs…..STEVE “Z” ZAWATSKY had a key hit and RYAN “THE COMMISH” KIRZNER had a fine game in the outfield……on the losing side…..MIKE GRAY pitched a fine game, but again the lack of offense bit the team in the you know what….rumor has it that captain JEFF WEISBROT is thinking about calling up some young players from the minors in an attempt to shake things up…….BONEHEAD PLAY OF THE GAME was by ALEX LEFTON for coming off the base at third and getting tagged out, however other than that the youngest of the LEFTONS played a nice game coming up with some nice defensive gems along with a hit or two……….WAY TO GO ALEX!!!!!……don’t let your father and uncles intimidate you!!!!!!

*”CHANGES WILL BE MADE AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT”
Which captain said this after last night’s games?????????
BRAD WAGNER!!!!!!!!!!!
The captain of TEAM WAGNER was NOT a happy camper after getting blown out vs. TEAM GUTTMAN.
THE BLOG is trying to get further comments on the changes……STAY TUNED!!!!!!!

In the victory, TEAM GUTTMAN, (9-1) (2-0) was led by the pitching of Cy Young Award candidate JAS “BIG HAUS” FAUST with three strikeouts……the offense was led by RON ‘THE ROCKET” NASSIF with a grand slam and TODD “THE MACHINE” WASSERMAN who went 4 for 4 including a triple to the fence in left centerfield…..rumor has it that he needed oxygen by the time he got to third base and after the game joked with captain BRANDON “BK” GUTTMAN that one day if he’s strong enough to hit the ball that far, he “might” be able to stretch it into a homerun……

**Meanwhile, TEAM SCHWARTZ continuted their winning ways with a 12-2 victory over TEAM ROTHSTEIN……defensive stars were AARON COMPTON and ALAN LESSURE…….COMPTON made numerous good plays in the field, but the highlight of the game was the defensive gem turned in by LESSURE in the outfield……that’s right in the outfield…..he took a sure hit away on a diving and rolling catch in short center field……a definite Sportscenter highlight in which the JCC is trying to get permission to show on our end of the year banquet highligh video…..the offense was led by the “wild” baserunning of SCOTT WOLF……what else is new? and the clutch hitting by ZACK SWADNER and JEFF ”DUFFY” WOLF with the game winning hit (it was a 10 run win) off the bat of MARK NEWMAN…..

***THE SPECIAL ESPN SUNDAY MORNING GAME OF THE WEEK matches two 2-0 teams when TEAM SCHWARTZ and TEAM LEADER square off with the early line………..SCHWARTZ (-7)……the game will start with the pre-game show starting at 9:00 a.m. with special guest MARK “GORDY” GORDON, coach of the JCC BLUE JAYS……

****TIDBITS…….JASON “BIG HAUS” FAUST is subbing Sunday for TEAM WEISBROT and as an added bonus will be signing autographs afterwards……FREE WITH A PURCHASE OF A JASON FAUST BOBBLEHEAD………WHILE SUPPLIES LAST……

***GARY ASKIN of TEAM CRONSTEIN reports in that TEAM LEFTON was victorious in their hard fought entertaining game, 11-9……starting with only nine players for the first three innings, TEAM CRONSTEIN was able to recruit/bribe? MR. BILLY KAHN, a former all-star in the league, to play, with the promise to pay him in chicken wings…….kudos go to out to a well pitched game by STU WEINSTEIN and nice defense from MIKE SMALL, MICHAEL ASKIN and RICK SILVERMAN……hitting star was GARY “THE GOPHER” ASKIN, going a perfect 4 for 4 with three RBI’s……afterwards, acting captain JOEL KAHN commented, “Never have I seen so many hard hit balls directly to the fielder.”…………

***ALEX LEFTON of TEAM LEFTON reported in and added that key hits came off the bats of father JIMMY LEFTON and DAVID SNYDER, however everyone on the team contributed on the offensive end…..great defensive performances came from RYAN KIRZNER and UNCLE BEN “WEEZE” LEFTON……BEREL COHEN had a nice game as well……
