CONGRATS GO OUT TO THE # 2 SEED TEAM GUTTMAN GOOFBALLS AS THEY CAPTURED THE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP GAME BY DEFEATING # 8 SEED TEAM WEISBROT, 10-9, IN COME FROM BEHIND FASHION…….
After taking an early 1-0 lead, the winners fell behind by a score of 7-2 after 5 1/2 innings of play as TEAM WEISBROT was getting solid defense, timely hitting and a strong pitching performance by sub STU WEINSTEIN……..however, that’s when the wheels came off the wagon……the defense took a leave of absence as ROGER “ROGZILLA” ROSENTHAL, playing first base, dropped two throws and the door was wide open and TEAM GUTTMAN took full advantage of it by coming up with some hits to close the gap to 7-6 after six innings……
In the top of the 7th inning, JEFF WEISBROT, who had an awesome day at the plate, jacked a two-run homerun to make it 9-6 and that seemed to put ole MO back with them…..however the bottom of the 7th spelled doom for them as walks, shaky defense and timely hitting put the winners in position for the victory and when JOEL “LIL E” ELLISON came up with the bases loaded and one out facing a one run deficit laced a two run game-winning double to left center, the dust had cleared and TEAM GUTTMAN had captured the championship………
