TEAM LEFTON, a.k.a. TEAM FAMILY continued its’ good play with a 14-3 beat down on TEAM SCHWARTZ…….falling behind 2-0 in the top of the second inning, the victors plated seven runs as they batted a round and never looked back……offensively, TYLER WOLF connected on a home run, while JIMMY LEFTON, who received the game ball, returned to his early season form with a masterful pitching performance…..

TEAM ROSENTHAL defeated TEAM WAGNER, 5-4, in what turned out to be a pitchers dual with the wise veteran STEVE “EPPY EPPSTEIN outlasting JASON FAUST……hitting stars came from two improbable players as HOWARD GOLDWASSER and captain ROGER ROSENTHAL each collected two hits each……JOEL KAHN came up with a key base knock in the opening frame and AARON COMPTON hit a home run and was heard yelling, “take that TOM BRADY” while running around the bases……WHAT???????……..FAUST wanted no part of best buddy NICK REUSZER, as he walked him three times……defensively…….two double plays were turned in by the victors with one coming from left-handed second baseman KAHN on a 1-4-3……

TEAM GUTTMAN improved to 2-1 and 8-3 with a 6-1 win over TEAM LEADER as MIKE GRAY continued his mastery with two double plays behind him……offensively, PAT “THE BAT” FELDMAN”, a sure fire candidate for ROOKIE OF THE YEAR, went 3 for 3 with two home runs…….

TEAM LEFTON a.k.a. TEAM FAMILY remained undefeated in the second half by defeating TEAM WEISSER, 18-16, in a game which saw the victors lose a nine run lead in the top of the 6th inning only to score five runs in the bottom of the frame and hold on in the 7th inning for the victory…….NO individuals were highlighted in captain RICK LEFTON’S game report as the game ball went to the entire squad…….it should be noted that JIMMY LEFTON returned to the mound after a brief stay on the DL…….

TEAM ROSENTHAL defeated TEAM LEADER in a thrilling game, 10-9, as they jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the opening frame only to have to hold on for the one run victory in a tense bottom of the 7th inning in which TEAM LEADER scored three runs and had a chance to tie and/or win when DAN GLASSMAN threw out DAN STEINBERG, representing the tying run, in an attempted steal…..STEVE EPPSTEIN pitched perhaps his best game of the season as he held the opposition in check for most of the evening…….NICK REUZER continued his stellar season by going 3 for 3 with a home run and excellent defensive play…..other highlights came from PETE SPOERL who went four for four…….BRIAN GOREN, went 3 for 4 and HOWARD GOLDWASSER, went 2 for 4 and sparked a three run 6th inning with a lead-off single……

Captain ROGER ROSENTHAL, still on the DL with a slight calf muscle pull, commented after the game, “We’re playing well with me sitting on the bench. I may sit the rest of the season.”
Veteran DAVID “DEE” HARRIS thought that was the smartest thing he’s said all season……..STAY TUNED……..

TEAM GUTTMAN recorded a hard fought 11-9 victory over TEAM ROSENTHAL as defense was the name of the game…..JACK COHEN made an unbelievable catch off the bat of PETE SPOERL and another web gem catch off the bat of JOEL KAHN and throw in a throw from RCF to nail a runner trying to score from second base, it was one UNBELIEVABLE defensive game for the son of ALLEN COHEN, who also made a few great plays at first base……TEAM ROSENTHAL came back from a 9-1 deficit to come within 9-8, but could never get over the hump…..winning pitcher MIKE GRAY scored four runs, while the elder COHEN was 4 for 4……

TEAM LEFTON, now known as TEAM FAMILY defeated TEAM CRONSTEIN, 14-4, as BEN “WEEZE” LEFTON continued pitching well in his brother JIMMY’S absence……game ball went to SCOTT WOLF, who went 3 for 4 and had three RBI’s and two runs scored……everyone contributed including super sub LOGAN HIUDT who played a sparkling left field…….

SICK BAY……..Here’s hoping the following get well……MIKE GRAY from a shot he took in the stomach area a couple of games ago……..STEVE EPPSTEIN took a shot off his shoulder a couple of games ago……..DAN GLASSMAN got hit by a screaming line drive while running the bases in this evening’s action……ROGER ROSENTHAL pulled a calf muscle and had to leave his game early this evening and guess what……his team played pretty damn well without him……..they may be trying to tell him something, eh?
