First to report in is TEAM ROSE’S 15-8 victory over TEAM LEADER in a rematch of the first half “title” game…..the victors jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the opening frame and never looked back though TEAM LEADER did stay within striking distance…..it was a total “team” effort as everyone contributed either offensively or defensively or in some cases both……KEN GROH led the way by pitching arguably his best game of the year against a pretty potent offense…..ROGER ROSENTHAL, in a deep freeze hitting all season long, finally broke out of the slump with two hits including a timely two run double against a “cheating” outfield….ZACH SWADNER played SS for the vacationing MICHAEL ROTHSTEIN and the team didn’t miss a beat…..DAVID WEIL put down two tremendous bunts for hits and was solid behind the plate…..MARC SIMMONS played a stellar 1B in place of the absent MIKE KADETZ and came up with some timely hits……GARY ASKIN once again played a stellar RF and got some crucial hits…..RYAN SILVERMAN struggled for the first time in a long time at the plate, but again was “BIG” in LCF…..RANDY BROYLES continued his hot hitting….and finally, MICHAEL ASKIN continued to be arguably the best lead off batter in the league…….
In other action, it was reported to me after the games by BENJY SANDOR that he and his father DOUG SANDOR of TEAM WEISBROT went a combined eight for eight in their victory over TEAM GUTTMAN…..not bad against one of the best pitchers in the league, JASON FAUST……
