WERTHEIM IMPRESSIVE WITH BAT!!!!!!

DAVID WERTHEIM of TEAM SCHWARTZ must have had his Wheaties this morning as he

snacked two home runs off of RANDY BROYLES in a loss to TEAM SOLOMON……the recent

SYCAMORE AVIATOR graduate has put a nice run of games together after going through a rough

spot earlier in the season…..KEEP UP THE GOOD PLAY!!!!!!!

In a moment that will live on in JCC softball lore, EPPY continued to turn back the clock by downing

12 donuts….

He said after wards, “Listen, I used to eat a dozen dough nuts, a hot fudge sundae then go pound

wings like it was nothing. So just eating 12 donuts, I can do that in my sleep. Next year, I plan on

traveling to Coney Island (NY) and taking on that bum Joey Chestnut. 72 hot dogs is nothing.”

***TEAM BRAFMAN STARTS SECOND HALF WITH A CONVINCING VICTORY…..

TEAM BRAFMAN got revenge on TEAM LEFTON with a 10-2 win……this after getting beaten in

the first half by letting them score 11 straight runs with two outs….

“Once again, I’m proud of how our team is playing. The entire line-up is hitting and we are

continuing to flash the leather in the field,” winning captain MARC BRAFMAN said after the

contest….

Hitting stars included SCOTT WOLF with a two run double, and DAVID “BP” SNYDER, DAVID

“VOTTO” WEIL and NORM FRANKEL, each with RBI hits…..

“The meat of the order is starting to hit,” Weil commented. “With my speed, Norm’s guile and Scott’s

experience, we are really showing this league how to get it done,” he added……

According to Brafman, it’s in the field that they continue to make strides. PATRICK “BUN BUN”

FELDMAN and TYLER WOLF played error free ball in left and right center and each had shoe

string catches to keep TEAM LEFTON off the scoreboard…..the infield play of GREG HARRIS,

WES WOLF, DAVID “THE MINISTER OF FUN” COHEN and SNYDER was outstanding……

But once again, the real story was STEVE “AQUAMAN” EPPSTEIN who didn’t walk a batter and

gave up two runs for the second game in a row……..

SUPER SUB SCOTT “SHORTY” ADAMS LEADS THE WAY………

TEAM SCHWARTZ started off the second half with a 10-4 victory over TEAM WEISSER…..it was

a total team effort from top to bottom…..PETE SPOERL had four hits to lead the offensive charges as

the victors built on an early lead to put the game away in the later innings…..

Super sub, SCOTT “SHORTY” ADAMS went 4 for 4 and handled everything hit his way at

2B……captain HOWARD SCHWARTZ pitched a gem of a game and the defense played

flawless….ZAC SWADNER, COREY NORRIS, DAVID WERTHEIM, ALAN LESSURE, ROGER

ROSENTHAL, DAVID SOLOMON and sub TYLER STANSBURY all chipped in on offense…..

IN THE BETTER LATE THAN NEVER DEPT……..

Captain KEN GROH reported in with an update of his team’s clinching the first half title and the first

half stats……

Vs. TEAM HIUDT, they trailed 2-0 after the opening frame, but struck for 3, 6 and 5 runs in

consecutive innings en route to a five inning 15-3 victory…..new team member (JACK COHEN

(perm. sub), JUSTIN KIRSCHNER, NOAH GILBERT and GROH all had three hits each…..of

GILBERT’S hits two were a triple and home run while batting in the clean-up spot……RYAN BAUM

had his first triple of the season and seven players scored two runs or more…….

The victory coupled with a TEAM SCHWARTZ loss, gave them the first half title as they would have

lost a tiebreaker……

TEAM GROH FIRST HALF STATS (as provided by official scorekeeper GROH)…..NOT

*AARON LIND, out for the season with a torn ACL had six extra base hits and a .571

*SCOTT FRIEND hit .609 and 13 RBI’s……

*RYAN BAUM, BEN BARNETT, RICK TENNENHOLTZ, JUSTIN KIRCHNER all batted over

.400……

*Veterans EDDIE GALLUP and BRUCE YOUNGER played great defense and helped unite the

team….
