Game Results: September 21, 2015

The 2015 JCC softball season is now officially over…….

The all-star game was played under ideal weather conditions at the old Roselawn Park last night and the team captained by JERRY KIRZNER and RON  ROSE defeated the team captained by SCOTT WOLF and RICK LEFTON, 3-1,……YES THAT’S RIGHT!!!!!

MVP honors went to KEN GROH (TEAM ROSE) as he and STEVE EPPSTEIN (TEAM FOGEL) had but one run scored against them…….

CONGRATULATIONS GO OUT ONE MORE TIME TO……..

*TEAM ROSE………….WINNERS OF THE FIRST HALF………..
*TEAM GREFER………WINNERS OF THE SECOND HALF..….
*TEAM WEISSER……..WINNERS OF THE TOURNAMENT…..

The end of the season banquet is still in the working stages as far as date, place and speaker according to COMMISSIONER BRAD WAGNER……..STAY TUNED……

On a final note, kudos go out to the Softball Commission, especially COMMISSIONER BRAD WAGNER on a fine season…..

2015 Championship Game

Under sunny skies and comfortable temperatures, #4 seed TEAM WEISSER defeated #2 seed TEAM GREFER, 8-7, in the championship game of the league tournament…..

In a nail bitting win, the victors jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening frame only to have TEAM GREFER come back with two runs in the bottom to the inning to make it 3-2.

The lead extended to 8-3, however TEAM GREFER cut it to 8-7 going into the last inning thanks in a large part to key hits from RICK TENENHOLTZ and ROOKIE OF THE YEAR candidate RYAN SMALL…..

After shutting them down in the top of the inning, they had the 11, 1 and 2 hitters coming up only to come up just short after super sub “GRIFF” HARRIS got as far as third base with two outs, but a line drive hit by #3 hitter PAT FELDMAN settled into the glove of RF BRIAN GOLDBERG to clinch the victory and set off the celebration.

In a game for the ages,…..CONGRATS GO OUT TO BOTH TEAMS FOR AN EXCITING SEASON ENDING GAME!!!!!

TIDBITS……

*Many players came out for the action as did players from yesteryear….including BOBBY CARTER….STEVE OSTROW…..ROD KAPLAN…..DAVE WERNICK…..MARK GORDON……MARK WOLF……KEN GOLDHOFF…..PETE SPOERL…..DID I FORGET ANYONE?????

*Also in attendance was RABBI LEWIS KAMRASS and wife RENE to watch their two sons play…..

*A survey was done before the game on whom would win the title game and special thanks go out to…….DEE HARRIS……BROOKE WAGNER(the commish’s wife)……MARK GORDON…..DAVID WEIL…….RON ROSE…..ZACH SWADNER……MIKE CREEMER…….DAVE COHEN……and yours truly and seven of the nine picked the eventual winner……WHICH ONES GOT IT WRONG??????

*A crowd estimated at 75 was in attendance with about a 50/50 split on whom they were rooting for……

THE ALL-STAR GAME WILL BE PLAYED THIS COMING SUNDAY AT THE OLD ROSELAWN PARK WITH MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW……

ALSO, THE SEASON ENDING BANQUET INFORMATION WILL BE SENT OUT TO THE PLAYERS……STAY TUNED!!!!!!!

It was also noted that STEVE EPPSTEIN is the only 12th round pick to ever be selected……HOW ABOUT THAT??????
