The two undefeated teams, LEADER and ROSE, both lost last night in one run games…..

Reporting in first was captain BRANDON GUTTMAN on his team’s 18-17 win over TEAM ROSE….it was a seesaw battle back and forth and came down to the last inning as ROSE, down four runs in the top of the 7th inning plated five runs to take a 17-16 lead only to have the victors plate two runs in the bottom of the inning to win the game in exciting fashion…..the game winning hit came off the bat of “LEAPING” LARRY NEWMAN on a 2-0 pitch to RCF to plate BEN “B-ROD” RODRIGUEZ and TODD “THE MACHINE” WASSERMAN….the catching duo of WASSERMAN and ALAN “LESH” LESSURE shined behind the plate…..key hits were delivered by JASON “BIG HAUS” FAUST who continues to “mash” the ball all over the field proving he’s not just a diva pitch and the FRANKEL BOYS, “STORMIN” NORMAN and JOSHUA “GIRAFFE”.…..the younger FRANKEL showed his power and speed…..

On the losing end, MICHAEL ROTHSTEIN continued his hot hitting while going 5 for 5 with seven  RBI’s, while ZAK SWADNER, grandson of captain RON ROSE, had some huge hits including a three run home run to RF….ROGER “ROGZILLA ROSENTHAL broke out of his season long slump (one hit in six games) by going 3 for 3……RYAN SILVERMAN continued his consistent play in LCF with some nice catches…….the team will welcome back RANDY BROYLES in two weeks as he has missed the last two games due to his coaching commitment for his daughter’s softball team….

Next up for TEAM ROSE is TEAM LEADER in two weeks with everything on the line for the first half championship…..TEAM FOGEL is still in the hunt, but needs everything to go their way in the final two games…..

Speaking of TEAM FOGEL……captain JOEL FOGEL, still out with an injury, but hopefully back before the season ends, reports in of his team’s exciting 9-8 win over TEAM LEADER…..STEVE “I’VE LOST 30 POUNDS” EPPSTEIN continued pitching well and received the game ball….good defense and timely hitting by the bottom of the batting order were keys in the victory….DAN GLASSMAN, MIKE CREEMER and DEE HARRIS all had run producing hits…..

I ALWAYS APPRECIATE COMMENTS FROM PLAYERS…..

GARY GREFER pointed out that ALBERT WEISBROT, father of JEFF WEISBROT, sang the National Anthem today at the Cincinnati Reds/ Colorado Rockies game……He has done this numerous times around the country, specifically in Cincinnati…..maybe he can start singing before our softball games???????

IN THE BETTER LATE THAN NEVER DEPT……TEAM GREFER defeated TEAM FOGEL, 3-2, in a pitcher’s dual that lasted eight innings…..MIKE GRAY won out over STEVE “I’VE LOST 30 POUNDS” EPPSTEIN…..flawless pitching and great defense by the victors was the difference as GRAY stymied a stacked offense…after tying the game in the top of the 7th inning, GARY GREFER and KYLE GREFER made a couple of great catches to force the extra innings, where MICAH KAMRASS got the game winning hit after huge two out hits by RICK TENNENHOLTZ and HOWARD GOLDWASSER….DANNY GREFER also contributed offensively……

TEAM ROSE and TEAM LEADER are heading in the direction for a BIG showdown the last game of the first half…..

Both teams were victorious this week as TEAM LEADER defeated TEAM GUTTMAN, 11-10, as the victors defense, in particular the left side of the infield with TAYLOR SCHWARTZ at 3B and ZACH MAYER at SS, which included multiple double plays…..key offensive contributions came from the big power hitters including a triple off the bat of MAYER….another key base knock was delivered by super sub ALEX LEFTON, who delivered a “respect me now” hit that scored two critical runs, this after BRIAN MONK was intentionally walked….Special shout out to both JOEL KAHN and JOSH LISMAN, both out with injuries, but were on hand to lend their support…..

TEAM ROSE barely escaped with a 8-7 victory over pesky TEAM WEISSER……the game was tied at 4-4 going to the bottom of the 6th inning when the victors erupted for four runs and withstood a 7th inning rally to hold onto to the win…..MARC SIMONS, started at 3B for the missing RANDY BROYLES and not only played a steady field, but went 4 for 4 at the plate…..ZAC SWADNER had a key assist on a putout at the plate and KEN GROH pitched a gutty game…..
