ROGER’S HOT CORNER…………

Thursday July 15……4:27.m…..this edition of ROGER’S HOT CORNER is brought to by BRANDON GUTTMAN……BG had been good all season about reporting his team’s recaps, but has slacked off lately and has been fined by the BLOG POLICE…..here is an update on their last three games……all victories……last Wednesday night, they whipped up on TEAM EPPSTEIN, 10-3, as SCOTT”SHORTY”ADAMS kept up his All-star calliber year and ABE “ILITY” DAHAN continued his hot hitting with line drives and bunts….kudos go to EVAN PIERSON who recorded a triple play, by catching a fly ball, and probably could have done it unassisted, but gave a little love to his teammate at first base to complete the rare play….Sunday morning…..TEAM GUTTMAN beat TEAM KIRZNER, 10-7, where hitting stars were the HIUDT brothers, ZAC “HYPHE” and JOEY” WHEELS” who each went 3 for 4….last night, they defeated TEAM SCHWARTZ, 8-1, as “WHEELS” HIUDT went 3 for 4 with a stolen base and two runs scored….”SHORTY” ADAMS, labelled by his captain as a “table setter extraordinaire” was 2 for 2 and a walk and two runs scored and “BGUTT” GUTTMAN was 3 for 3 with two doubles, a walk, a stolen base, two runs scored and three RBI’s…..he also sold popcorn at the snack bar between at bats while keeping his up to date stats (BEST IN THE LEAGUE)….however, the Player Of The Game was “SUPER” STU WEINSTEIN, seen hobbling after the game, giving up only one run on virtually one leg…..with a torn calf muscle that will require off-season surgery delivered “one of the gutsiest performances ever witnessed on JCC softball turf” according to BG…….”SUPER” went 2 for 4 with three RBI’s and a fan in the stands was heard saying, “You just witnessed the greatest hitter in the history of the JCC softball league do what he does best”….questions/comments to r.rosenthal@fuse.net…….
NOTE……THIS ROGER;S HOT CORNER AGAIN WAS BROUGHT TO YOU WITH GRANTS PROVIDED BY BRANDON GUTTMAN!!!!!!!!

Tuesday July 13……12:27……TEAM GREFER defeated TEAM EPPSTEIN, 6-5, in a well played game…..the victors had to withstand a three-run homerun from rookie EVAN PIERSON and according to captain GARY GREFER may have the inside track for ROOKIE OF THE YEAR….hmmmmmmmmm…..kudos go to both pitchers, STEVE EPPSTEIN and MIKE GRAY, both pitched well…..TODD WASSERMAN provided the key hit for the winners with a key two run single….questions/comments…. r.rosenthal@fuse.net…….

ROGER’S HOT CORNER…………

Sunday July 11…….10:21 p.m….it was indeed a very crazy Sunday morning of softball….winners were TEAM LOOOOOOOOOON over TEAM SCHWARTZ….TEAM GREFER over TEAM EPPSTEIN……TEAM GUTTMAN over TEAM KIRZNER and finally in a game of records set….TEAM LEFTON 33 TEAM SILVERMAN 12……YOU READ CORRECTLY…..reports for these games haven’t been reported in at press time, but as they come in will be posted on the BLOG….a couple of sidebars….JOEL “SPARKY” FOGEL and NICK “CUBS SUCK” REUSZER made cameo appearances as subs……bad news for the JCC BLUEJAYS, the JCC baseball team of 10-year olds….they were eliminated from tournament play this afternoon, but kudos for a fine season and a great coaching job by head coach MARK “GORDY” GORDON, BRAD WAGNER and ROGER “ROGZILLA” ROSENTHAL….also kudos go to MIKE CREEMER for helping out with the team….QUOTE OF THE DAY comes from MARK “GORDY” GORDON at a Subway prior to the game….(to the worker) “Can I have a six inch foot long?”……STAR SIGHTINGS……the ROCKET and DAVID WEIL were in attendance at the BLUE JAYS game lending their support and ROCKET was even doing the books….how about that?????……questions/comments….. r.rosenthal@fuse.net…….

ROGER’S HOT CORNER…………

Monday July 12…..10:14 a.m….No records reported on the whipping TEAM LEFTON gave to TEAM SILVERMAN, but one would figure a 33-12 score would yield a few…..to his credit captain RYAN SILVERMAN reported in after his team got clobbered (possibly a first for a losing captain to report in)….he gave credit where credit was due and just said, “they flat out took us to the woodshed and beat the crap out of us.”….hitting stars were aplenty (as one would imagine) as DEE HARRIS, TEDDY “BALLGAME” KANTOR, MARK “GORDY” GORDON and RICK SILVERMAN led the way…..SILVERMAN also added, “TEAM LEFTON has underachieved all year and they’re showing signs of life.”, this after beating two of the top teams in SILVERMAN and SCHWARTZ in back to back games….as for his team, RUSSELL WHITE and MARK LEVINE had key hits when the game was still close and DAVID “PETE ROSE” SNYDER is now two for two batting from the left side of the plate…..reports from the other three games hadn’t been reported as of press time……comments/questions…… r.rosenthal@fuse.net…….
