TEAM WEISBROT and TEAM LEFTON had a shootout, dragout affair in their game…..the suspended first game was NOT played, however the second half match-up was a dandy…….TEAM LEFTON led 9-4 before NICK REUZER had a three-run homerun and a triple to help lead the comeback and with them down to their last out, ALLEN COHEN knocked in two runs to tie the game……after three scoreless innings, DUFF WOLF drove in the winning runs to produce the victory……

A beautiful, but very warm Sunday morning saw some intense action as first half games were completed (still games to be played in the first half) along with the regularly scheduled second half games…..

First to report in of course is TEAM ROSENTHAL…….going into action for the first half tied with TEAM GREFER at 5-1, in the suspended game……they trailed TEAM SCHWARTZ, 6-3, in the top of the 4th inning only to cut the lead to 6-4 after five innings and then explode for five runs in each the 5th and 6th innings to win going away, 14-6…….a total team effort at the plate as well as in the field paved the way, but JASON “MVP” FAUST shut the door on TEAM SCHWARTZ’ offense and provided a spark at the plate…..

In the second game, it was 2-2 going to the top of the 6th inning, when TEAM ROSENTHAL exploded for five runs, largely in part to a three-run two out triple off the bat of “super” sub, BEN HELDMAN,  son of ANDY HELDMAN of TEAM SCHWARTZ……with the 7-2 lead, TEAM SCHWARTZ battled back to 7-6 in the bottom of the 7th inning only to have DAN GLASSMAN throw out ZACK SWADNER trying to steal second base to end the game……

In action last night…….

TEAM CRONSTEIN defeated TEAM ROTHSTEIN, 15-5, STEVE EPPSTEIN, the ageless wonder, pitched four shut-out innings before JOEL KAHN came in to mop up……the all around team effort was led by TAYLOR SCHWARTZ, who hit a homerun and DAVE COHEN, who is getting better with age, with a triple…..it should be noted that once EVAN COHEN returned from college (Syracuse for those who care), the team is undefeated in games that he has played in…..SPECIAL THANKS TO BLOG CONTRIBUTOR DAVE COHEN……..next time please watch your spelling!!!!!!……..

In other action…..TEAM ROSENTHAL defeated TEAM LEADER, 7-5, in a game that could have gone either way…..the victors broke a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the 6th inning with two runs and held on for the win after TEAM LEADER put the tying runs on base in the top of the 7th inning only to have the newly married JASON FAUST shut the door……it was a total team effort both on offense and defense, but special mention goes to WILLY WAXLER for a “key” sacrifice fly in the two run 6th inning after being instructed by captain ROGER ROSENTHAL to “just hit a fly ball to the outfield”……..

NOTE……GAMES THIS SUNDAY BEGIN AT A SPECIAL 9:00 A.M. TIME SO WE CAN FINISH THE FIRST HALF GAME……

*TEAM ROSENTHAL lost a tough one, 9-8, to TEAM CRONSTEIN, when the victors plated four runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to complete the comeback that saw them trailing, 7-1, after two innings…..with JASON “MVP” FAUST basking in the Florida sunshine on his honeymoon, WILLIE WAXLER and AARON COMPTON tried their best to pitch their team to a victory, but it was just not meant to be……JOEL “SPARKY” FOGEL had three hits and played a stellar outfield and SS…..DAN GLASSMAN contributed three hits and sparkled behind the plate once again….BEN RODRIGUEZ and COREY NORRIS each had two hit apiece…..the defense played well with an extra kudos to 3B PETE SPOERL……..

**TEAM SCHWARTZ won a wild one against TEAM WEISBROT, 10-9, as they came back from a four run defecit late and plated the winning run in the bottom of the 7th inning…….RON ROSE got on base three times, while THE ROCKET, LARRY NEWMAN and rookie PETE SOLTESZ had key hits to drive in runs…..THE ROCKET also made a great catch in LF to save some runs……

**TEAM WAGNER avenged a first half loss with a butt whipping of TEAM LEFTON, 13-0, in a game called after five innings…….The Burgandy Bombers were led by ROY candidate KEN GROH, subbing from TEAM GREFER, as he pitched a masterful game…..other notable performances came from JOEL ELLISON, BOB BONNER and DAVID SNYDER……

FYI……..WISE TEMPLE BROTHERHOOD held their annual HEALTH NIGHT Thursday night…..in attendance was DAVID SNYDER (PRESIDENT), RICK LEFTON, JOEL FOGEL and ROGER ROSENTHAL……ex-JCC players included……GLEN MEYER and MARK NEWMAN……
