Thursday August 6……….10:29a.m………..STEVE EPPSTEIN was a NO SHOW as well on the popular show PTI with Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon on Tuesday as was ANTON LOOOOOON on Monday…….Commissioner MICHAEL ROTHSTEIN is expected to take action against both captains for not showing up…….rumor has it that they must watch every REDS game the rest of the year………..onto action on the field from last night…..in the BIG ESPN GAME OF THE WEEK……..TEAM LOOOOOOOOON defeated TEAM EPPSTEIN, 12-6, to put themselves in firm position to win the second half as JOSH LISMAN had a three-run triple and JUSTIN MENDENKEMP had a two-run homerun and made some fine defensive plays……..BARRY KAPLAN pitched another gem as the wiley veteran has turned it up a notch in the second half…….the defense was solid again…….kudos also go to MATT STEINBERG who homered twice and BRANDON GUTTMAN once for TEAM EPPSTEIN……..LOOOOOOOOOON also announced after the game that they have acquired MICAH GOLDFARB for brother JARED, who will be leaving for Israel after next week’s game…..how many Goldfarbs are there?????…….elsewhere TEAM EPPSTEIN exploded against TEAM SCHWARTZ as JOHN BERG pitched as well as he all season giving up NO earned runs……ALAN COHEN played solid at second base and came up with a key hit as did captain DAVE WERNICK in the opening frame to help set the tone…..STEVE OSTROW ran the bases like a wild man that defines him…..ZACH NEWMAN made his debut at shortstop to complete the NEWMAN/NEWMAN doubleplay combo at SS and 2B……another highlight/lowlight was BOBBY CARTER arguing a close play at 1B in which he swears on a bible he beat STEVE OSTROW to the base…kudos to the brother combo of SCOTT/MARK WOLF for stepping into to umpire when the regular ump was a NO SHOW………good job guys and thanks!!!!!!!!!! Tuesday August 4…….10:03 a.m………..STEVE EPPSTEIN reports his 16-14 victory over TEAM GREFER was a wild one with TEAM GREFER stranding the winning run on base…..the STEINBERG duo of MATT (son) and BOB (father) were awarded game balls as MATT had two triples and a “bunch” of RBI’s, while father BOB was an excellent replacement behind home for the missing regular catcher MIKE CREEMER….many of balls were in the dirt and all blocked…….this again sets up TEAM EPPSTEIN vs TEAM LOOOOOOOOOON tomorrow in the ESPN GAME OF THE WEEK in a game that could decide the second half champion……..reports out of ESPN studios in Bristol, CT. are that ANTON LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON failed to show up for a scheduled interview via satellite from his Blue Ash home with the popular show PTI yesterday……….hosts TONY KORNHEISER and MICHAEL WILBON were pissed and were critical of him on the show saying he had NO class for at least not letting them know in advance of the NO SHOW…….STEVE EPPSTEIN is scheduled for this afternoon’s show………stay tuned……. r.rosenthal@fuse.net …………..

MOnday August 3…….11:46 a.m……more notes from the TEAM LOON 7-2 victory over TEAM NEWMAN…….BARRY KAPLAN pitched another gem…..the defense was stellar again……AARON COMPTON made some nice plays in the field……ANDY JENNINGS had three hits……and finally ALAN LESSURE, not noted for his speed, had two hits including a bunt single……. r.rosenthal@fuse.net………………

Sunday August 2……..9:31 p.m…….an update on JOEL FOGEL’S injury is that he broke his left wrist NOT his right in an attempt at a diving catch in the top of the 7th inning in TEAM FOGEL’S 6-3 victory over TEAM WERNICK…..he was taken to Bethesda North Hospital and reports surgery might be required after a follow-up visit to an othopedist……in other action, winners included TEAM KIRZNER, TEAM LOOOOOOOON and TEAM EPPSTEIN…….IN THE GAME OF THE WEEK WEDNESDAY, TEAM LOOOOOOON and TEAM EPPSTEIN hook up in a game that could determine the second half champion…….TEAM EPPSTEIN, 4-1, lost to TEAM LOOOOOON, 3-1, by a score of 6-3, in the first half and are out for revenge…….both captains ANTON LOOOOOOON ( Monday) and STEVE EPPSTEIN (Tuesday) will be guests on Pardon The Interruption with hosts Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon grilling each with questions….meanwhile, both captains were spotted Sunday afternoon at the Blue Ash Recreation Center pool and exchanged handshakes and good luck wishes, but we all know once the game starts, the friendship will end……this reporter was trying to get some comments about the game from both captains, but each didn’t want to post any bulletin board talk…….instead LOOOOOOOON was boasting that he thought his team was the best team in the league, while this reporter was asking who had the better overall record in which LOOOOOOOOON replied, “We’ll see at the end of the season”……this reporter wanted to bet a dinner, but was blindsided by LOOOOOOOON when he said he didn’t want to bet NOT because he lacked confidence in his team, but he didn’t want to have dinner with me!!!!!!!……..hahaha……. r.rosenthal@fuse.net…………….

Sunday August 2………12:27 p.m……..the first game to report in was a come-from-behind victory for TEAM FOGEL over TEAM WERNICK, 6-3…….the victors trailed 3-1 going into the bottom of the 6th inning, but plated five runs to earn the victory……kudos to pitcher JAN BECKER who allowed all three runs on sacrifice flyouts……one other note……captain JOEL FOGEL suffered an injury to his wrist and had to leave the game in the top of the 7th inning……here’s to a quick recovery!!!!!!…….more game action to report when it comes into the press room……..r.rosenthal@fuse.net…….
