Thursday July 9………11:03 a.m……in the GAME OF THE WEEK……TEAM GREFER came from a 5-0 early deficit and knocked off TEAM LOOOOOOOOOOOON, 12-8,……..there were many contributors on the winning side including Player Of The Game STEVE ZWATSKY, who finished with three hits (one to rightfield), four RBI’s and a nice catch in the outfield…..the game was marked with two excellent defensive web gems and one could have been a game saver………3B DAN GREFER snagged a grounder down the third base line with the bases loaded and no outs off the bat of the always tough ANTON LOON, tagged third base for one out and ran down ALAN LESSURE running to home for a second out and TEAM GREFER got out of the inning with no runs against them…..kudos also go to BRENT LANSBERG who made a magnificant catch on a drive with the bases loaded off the bat of MARK WEISSER to save at least three runs to keep TEAM LOON close………r.rosenthal@fuse.net…..
ROGER’S HOT CORNER…………
Thursday July 9………5:25 p.m………captain JOEL “SPARKY” FOGEL reports in from his loss to TEAM NEWMAN that the best part of last night was the beer was cold and the food was tasty….it’s been that kind of year for TEAM FOGEL, mainly trying to field his original team, however, brighter days may be ahead…….they only had nine players (two subs) and held the lead after 2 1/2 innings, but then the house caved in and TEAM NEWMAN won, 17-3, in a six inning mercy game……interesting side notes were……DAVID ”DEE” HARRIS, filling in for regular starter JAN BECKER, pitched and only walked one batter……FOGEL, the great athlete that he is, played a stellar centerfield (remember they only had three outfielders)…..DAVID WEIL, according to FOGEL, looked liked MIKE SCHMIDT at third base…….hmmmmmmmm………..FOGEL commented afterwards, “Next week I expect big things. I expect close to a full team. It’s a perfect time to turn this thing around.”…………..r.rosenthal@fuse.net………..
